New CDCOTW Video on Sandy and Superstorms

Climate Denial Crock of the Week gives us this new video. Details here.

We are not yet where we need to be with this "when did you stop beating your wife" question sometimes in the form of:

"Can you REALLY attribute ANY storm to Global Warming, really? No? Then is global warming really real? Really?")

Next time someone says something like that to you, consider answering the question with a question:

"Which major storm of the last two decades or so did not include any of the extra climatic energy provided to this planet by the release of fossil Carbon and other greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere by human activities? WHICH ONES, DAMMIT!?!??"

That last bit is very important.

Once upon a time, before I descended into parenthood and dull stability, I was out with a group of friends who had, let's just say, been drinking quite a bit. One of the young men in this group proposed to two others that they do something that was, to put it bluntly, totally moronic and likely to…
A letter in Climatic Change looking at the life-cycle greenhouse warming potential of natural gas raised a lot of hackles a little while back. If, as the authors posit, replacing coal and oil combustion with gas-fired turbines could actually accelerate global warming rather than slow it down, then…
Drawing attention to misinformed pseudoskeptical analyses of peer-reviewed climatology studies is usually counterproductive. But in this case, it's worth mentioning because the author makes such a common mistake that exploring the error might actually help shed light on the why so many people are…
(Updated January 2017 by Dr. Peter Gleick, Pacific Institute) Scientific understanding of the role of humans in influencing and altering the global climate has been evolving for over a century. That understanding is now extremely advanced, combining hundreds of years of observations of many…
