If you are a soccer (football) fan in NYC, the least crowded bar in all of Manhattan will be Bourbon Street on 407 Amsterdam. This pub will open tomorrow at 9am to watch the England - Paraguay game and on Monday noon, you can watch the USA
lose to play the Czech Republic.
(I'll probably be here tomorrow, but who knows if I'll show up Monday).
More like this
Christmas Eve and Christmas Day I spent with friends in Lansing, Michigan, but on the 28th I packed up my car, kissed Pepper goodbye, and headed to Lexington, KY to hang out with Steve of OmniBrain for a few days.
I went to medical school in the days when controls on human experimentation were not very robust (I understate).
Off to drink bourbon and schmooze Kentucky legislators.
Maybe it's because I just had a stiff drink - but I absolutely love this thing. The art is cool, bicycles are great, and engineering for fun interests me. Maybe it's not the bourbon...
From the comments on your "Orgasm of Beery Delight" I see that it is the same bar. Free WiFi, beer, bras hanging above the bar, the World Cup - damn, I'm stuck in the wrong part of New York State.
I didn't realise you were that enlightened!
I hope the US game is better than England's - awful. Mind you, we did get to watch Sweden fail to beat the 10 men of T&T.
For anyone else in Helsinki, try Painobaari (in Sanomatalo). It's not that crowded, has good beers, an international crowd (a lot of rugby players), and has a nice terrace. And it'll be getting WiFi.
No bras though. :-(
