Santorum -- Raptured to a better place?

Someone please tell me that that political hemorrhoid, Santorum has finally been raptured!

I just heard on CNN that Santorum will likely be encouraged to run for the presidency if he loses. Can you believe that?? Please, dear readers, tell me that this is a cruel joke, that there is NO WAY IN THIS CENTURY that any of you would vote for Santorum for any elected office, not even as national dog catcher!

Sunday and the day before the US midterm elections. Pundits are speculating on the role religious conservatives will play. We are now so inured to politicians invoking their faith it sounds strange to think it has been any other way. But it has been, and within my voting lifetime. Over a year ago…
Annals of McCain - Palin, XLI: how I palled around with terrorists: No one who knows me would ever consider me a domestic terrorist. I am, in fact, a pacifist. You may think that's naive, but it would be a real stretch to consider my pacifism to be the same as terrorism, even if you think it helps…
Over at Uncommon Descent, DaveScot says something stupid about atheism and science. (In other news, Dog Bites Man, Pope Still Catholic, Bear Arrested for Indecent Exposure in National Forest, and Ocean Wet and Salty.) At the end of a passage in his new book (The God Delusion) that discusses the…

I'm incredibly bummed out by Lieberman's win in Connecticut, and worried by the possibility of George Allen getting re-elected in Virginia, so the fall of Santorum is a welcome piece of cheer!

Still crossing my fingers ... my Congressional district has a close race going between Republican clone Randy Kuhl and Democratic challenger Eric Massa. No word yet.

I think that Santorum's political prospects are not very bright. Even if he does run for president, he would have to convince voters that he could win in swing states; after tonight's loss they may be skeptical, with good reason. Plus he would have to compete against other likely right-wing candidates for the culture warrior vote.

You can spot the wily political operators. They're the ones who choose today to announce bad news.

Santorum's a lightweight. If he ran for President, he'd be a national joke. The Republicans have no traditionally conservative heavyweights, except maybe Hagel.

The Republicans really are dependent on threats, aren't they? ;-)
Well, they've been at least somewhat slapped down for the moment.

yep, great news about Santorum. Even better (if your priority is natural ecosystems) is that those nice folks in California finally threw aout that bum Pombo!
Thanks, nice folks!

It's probably the Democrats who'll be doing the encouraging.
