On a more serious note, I have been receiving donations from some of you to my paypal account. I am very grateful all of you and will be using these monies to purchase my meds, which are quite expensive, after I get out of the nuthouse.
I am not sure if I will ever be in a position to pay you back, or if you ever want to be paid back for your generosity but I can pay you back for your kindness by showing my appreciation to you; I would love to write an essay for you about a topic or question of your choice. I will dedicate that essay, or an issue of Birds in the News if you prefer, to you by name, by pseudonym, or anonymously -- whatever you choose. If you have a question that you wish me to answer, or something that you'd just like to know more about, please let me know and I will do my best -- after I am released -- to write the essay and dedicate it to you.
But first, I have to get out of here!

Speaking personally, I think that all who donated would be amply rewarded by seeing you safely out of this situation, and ready to continue with your work of love 'from the top'. Being featured in Birds in the News would be a real honour, too.
Speaking for myself (and others, I'd bet) - it's the least I can do for the pleasure of your blog-company. The "payback" will be you out, happy and hopeful again, doing well. But I might think of something to ask you - in fact, what's up with migratory birds who stop migrating? A flock of Canada geese got blown off course, probably over the Appalachians, into Oak Ridge Tennessee - and they NEVER LEAVE! There are thousands of them there now. What happened to that "powerful, unavoidable instinct"?
No need to pay my back either. Just seeing you get out, get healthy and back to your life is reward enough for me.
Ridger, I can't resist answering because I just looked this up a few weeks ago. The answer is that there is more than one kind of Canada Goose, although they aren't sure it's really separate species or not. And, one of the groups (the 'giant' goose) apparently don't migrate. For the ones that do migrate, the statistics on how far and fast is really incredible.
I would love to know more if anyone out there has studied this.

My first visit in quite a while, sorry to say, and I was sad to learn of your recent (and current) ordeal. Glad to offer a little help through Paypal, and I hope things get better for you soon. I went through a painful divorce in 1997, and I've always been a "self sufficient" guy, not exactly a loner, but never one to expect much from people. Yet I was amazed to find I had more friends and supporters than I ever knew, people who were kind and helpful and willing to be there for someone they knew who was hurting. They appreciated me when I didn't even appreciate myself. I had some pretty dark thoughts for a few weeks back then but it worked out and I'm glad it did. I can't say that I know your pain, but I know you are appreciated. So it's a start. Please be well soon.
