I am receiving so many gorgeous pictures from you, dear readers, that I am overwhelmed by the beauty of the images and the creatures and places in them. If you have a high-resolution digitized nature image (I prefer JPG format) that you'd like to share with your fellow readers, feel free to email it to me, along with information about the image and how you'd like it to be credited.

An article by Evan Mills, a staff scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, points out that scientific buildings use a lot more energy than average:
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young girl from a family of modest means, who received a spiffy new jacket as a gift. It was bright red, and had a big warm hood that she could pull up over her head when she didn't feel like combing her hair.

I just realized something. I had a dream last night that I'd gone back to Inverness, in Scotland. The redoubtable Gordon was still doing his Loch Ness Monster day tour. I'd gone in the water there, and a gator was chasing me, so I ran in zig-zags through the water, but it gained the ability to zig and zag too. But it was a small gator, so I wasn't scared. Maybe this is where that part of the dream came from.
