Are these captive? I saw a harlequin duck once in Olympic NP, beautiful birds. I didn't know that Long Tails and Harlequins share the same habitat.
BTW did you see A Good Poop the other day? And you doubted whether a pet would be eaten. Apparently cats prefer our flesh to other foods.

these are captive birds as are most (or all?) of the birds that john has in his series of photographs.

i have seen harlequin ducks in a variety of places in WA, but i think the best places are the rocky shores around point no point and hoquiam.
