Mörssäri.

Photographed at Suomenlinna on Kalevalapaäivä (Kalevala Day).
This is one of my favorite places to visit in Helsinki, Finland.

I don't know what you did to your site but I see the picture on this page. First time for me.

Nice picture.

Nice picture (as are the other ones I've seen), but I must ask if you're having a some sort of wordplay here or if you just erred with the meaning of words.
'Kaanon' is in english canon, i.e. a word used to describe literary pieces or music. The Finnish words for cannon might be 'kanuuna' or 'tykki'. Or in this case, since those look more like mortars, the word 'mörssäri' might also be used.

Cheers! NB

niko -- no wordplay, this is the result of my terrible finnish, and my terrible finnish dictionary! so of course, i appreciate all the help that my finnish friends can provide into the subtleties of the vocabulary and the language itself. perhaps i will be living in finland soon, and then i will be in even greater need of all your linguistic insights!
