Cow-Tipping Lessons for City Boyz

tags: , , ,

Growing up near a dairy farm, I can tell you stories. But city boyz have a few lessons to learn: first and foremost among them is cow tipping. Cow-tipping is legendary, yet animal experts say it's nearly impossible to do. Here's how to "tip" the odds in your favor. [2:19]

I am currently away from broadband, so I will not attempt to view the video on the cell phone. I do wish to point out to the innocent readers that cow-tipping should really be considered an extreme sport. A starled bovine can be astonishingly agile, and having half a ton of defensive ruminant on your tail can do wonders to adrenaline levels and 100-yard-dash records.

I grew up on a small farm and at the age of 12 was pushed by an angry mother cow against the barn wall and had to be saved by my Dad. I still have deep respect for these animals.

Having grown up on a dairy farm, I have to say a few things for those that are even slightly serious about attempting this. One is that you could seriously injure a cow, in the (unlikely) event you succeed. While female dairy cows are more docile than bulls or beef breeds, they are not to be taken lightly. A calf may not be so obviously seen near its mother, but cows with calves around are very protective of them and may become especially aggressive. Also stay away from the back of a cow and back legs, they are master kickers. A neighbor was killed in a freak accident in the milking parlor, when a cow kicked him and he fell backwards and broke his neck when he hit something as he fell. I have had my legs knocked out from under me more times than I would like to remember.
