Which makes me all the more certain that you would make an excellent diarist and documentarist for any Antarctic cruise.
My hope is that Quark realizes that whether you get voted in or not, they'd be crazy to not take you on a future cruise precisely for that. Good luck.
thanks doug, that is precisely my hope at this time; that a spirited battle in the antarctica contest (even without winning) might be sufficient for quark to decide to bring me along as "official blogger" anyway on an antarctic voyage.
in addition to the digital canon SLR that i have (a very kind gift from a reader), i recently added a nikon d40 (also a gift) to my collection of cameras and am practicing and learning how to use that camera and its several lenses as well. i am still sorting out how to deal with the resulting images, which are 10-12 megapixels each (and therefore too big for flickr), and i already have plans to purchase a mini-tripod, a monopod and a relatively large zoom lens (good enough for photographing wary birds that attempt to stay out of range of the camera lens!), but i still have and regularly use the canon -- my first love!
Err, yes? And who was that a gift for, eh?
