Amherst, MA Speech Tomorrow

For the second time in under a year, I'll be heading to Amherst tomorrow, this time to give a speech at Hampshire College. The deets:

Thursday, April 20

6:00 PM-7:30 PM

Hampshire College

Franklin Patterson Hall

East Lecture Hall

Amherst, MA 01002

Here's a link to a campus map. I'm going to be trying out some new material in the talk, should be fun. I hope those in the area can make it.

The mild nausea I mentioned earlier? Gone now, it seems to have vanished as soon as I disposed of the wretched rag Answers in Genesis sent me. It's a good thing, too, because I have a frantic weekend ahead of me. Today and tomorrow, I'm pounding the keyboard to prepare a couple of talks. At least…
I've just added some new stops on the Chris Mooney "book tour" page. Not that I'm really on "book tour" at the moment, but, er, I certainly am pretty addicted to travel. And so in the next few months I'll be hitting some new spots where I've never given talks before: Saturday, April 7, 7:00 PM-8:…
Okay, I wasn't supposed to be blogging...and now, I'm not any more. At all. Period. Let me just repost my events list for those wishing to catch me on the road in the next month or so; note that a new event, in Miami/Coral Gables, has been added, for election day no less (wonder what that will do…
It's been a while since I had a good string of talks lined up--it's harder, I think, to do a lot of them from the West Coast. But now I'm back east and about to embark for the first two of these four upcoming appearances; so mark them down if you're in the area. And of course, when Unscientific…

Hey Chris,
re: "...trying out some new material."

Does this mean that you will be talking about hurricanes and global warming? If so, I'll try to rally a few folks from the UMass Department of Geosciences.

Either way, I'm looking forward to it!

Cheers, James

James,
Er, no. Can't promise I'll talk on that topic I'm afraid....Still on a learning curve. But I hope to see you!

PS. James, just let me add that pretty much every aspect of the speech has changed compared to the speech you heard back in November in Amherst....

Amherst is nice, comfortable. I spent the early 70s there as a UMass grad student. A year later, I'm a weekly's new editor in an Alaskan fishing village. I met the former editor and his squadron of friends. All Hampshire College students during my Amherst stay. Tiny village, small world, even across a continent.

30 years later, many are still there.
