RWOS in NYT Sunday Book Review Again

I'm happy to announce that the paperback edition of The Republican War on Science is a "Paperback Row" pick for this Sunday's Times book review. The Times also links to John Horgan's mostly favorable review, which was part of a cover package last December. Back then, I didn't know that Horgan, like me, was an English major. Now he directs the Center for Science Writings at the Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. In other words, Horgan is yet another rebuttal to the Discovery Institute's credentialism about science reporting.

Contrary to what some of my detractors think, I don’t mind criticism of my viewpoints. After all, if I never encounter criticism, how will I ever improve? On the other hand, there are forms of criticism that are what I would call less than constructive.
I'm going to be appearing this weekend on the strangely addictive show bloggingheads.tv.
If you've been following the Bloggingheads site, you probably already know that the best thing on it is Science Saturday with John Horgan and George Johnson.
Thanks to David Killoren for directing me to this excerpt from Bloggingheads. Science writers John Horgan and George Johnson spend a few minutes disucssing the Monty Hall problem.

Horgan is yet another rebuttal to the Discovery Institute's credentialism about science reporting

I read The End of Science.

No, he isn't.

Just as Chris, Oulette and Zimmer are a rebuttal to the claim that possessing a scientific credential is a necessary condition for being good science writer, several members of the Discovery Institute are a rebuttal to the claim that having a science credential is a sufficient condition.
