In my public talks, I often mention Randy Olson's wonderfully funny and humane documentary Flock of Dodos--and the many lessons it hold for those of us seeking to defend the teaching of evolution and to explain science to those unfamiliar with it. Yet too often, the audience has responded with a blank stare--they obviously haven't seen the documentary yet.
But now, finally, Flock of Dodos is available on DVD. If you haven't seen it yet, you simply must acquire a copy. Just click on the DVD image--and in the process, help prevent science and critical thinking from going extinct!

This is a wonderful documentary. Randy presents the evolution vs 'teach the controversy' debate in an honest and thought-provoking way while keeping the pace of the film creative and fun. I own this DVD and regularly lend it out to friends. Flock of Dodos does an excellent job of presenting both sides and Randy's certainly not easy on the scientists. He asks whether we in the science world are in fact, going the way of the Dodo by failing to adapt to a changing media environment. It's a necessary reminder that things are not as simple as many of us caught up in the ivory towers of academia believe.
And well, you know what happened to the Dodo... by failing adapt - we may just up and go extinct.
