A Tale of Two Candidates

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times,
it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness,
it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity,
it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness,
it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair,

And here at The Intersection, we continue to watch, engage, and blog...

It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done.

Thanks to our readers for joining us as the epic of 2008 unfolds...

A few people (actually, a lot of people) have written to me asking me to address Kirk Durston's probability argument that supposedly makes evolution impossible. I'd love to. I actually prepared extensively to deal with it, since it's the argument he almost always trots out to debate for intelligent…
Graduation was this morning, and it just so happens that I was the speaker. That I am posting the speech below should tell you that I thought it went pretty well. I'll do a separate post describing some of the reactions, and commenting on a few of the other graduation-speech related stories that…

I am hopeful this year. No matter who the victor.

You've quoted Dickens before, is he your favorite?

One of the things that I think is so great about this particular election so far is the level of introspection that is going on. People from both sides are having to really think long and hard on their beliefs and feelings on the candidates and the issues. On the democratic side, we have two incredible candidates, both friends of science, that have already set important and inspiring precedents in the US. On the Republican side, we have someone that is not quite as conservative as the GOP would like but certainly someone that is also a friend to science in many ways given his position on global warming, stem cell research, etc. If we had easy and obvious choices, people wouldn't have to be so reflective right now. As people engage in this self-reflection, it's important that they have good information to consider and this is exactly why SD 2008 is so important in order for both the candidates and their supporters to achieve the level of critical thinking on science topics and issues that is needed now.

I don't know, it's kinda irritating to have to click 13 links to figure out what you're talking about.

Last night was glorious... it raised my spirits. As I wrote yesterday, I like Senator Obama, but I am having a fresher take on Senator Clinton, and minus Bill Clinton, I like what I see and hear.
Sciencedebate 2008, Senator McCain too, here we come!!

And we can't wait to read your coverage of the campaigns! ;>
