The NYTimes suggests this recession will last at least into the summer, and now with over 11 million Americans unemployed, do readers think the stimulus package will be enough?

Hard to say, but not good news. I hope.
The danger along the path that Obama has chose to walk is the fact that it encourages people to put all of their hopes into the stimulus package. As the stimulus package moves through Congress, every community, corporation, constituency will line up like Huffington's pigs at the trough, positing that their pet project is the key to financial recovery and that everyone else should adapt. I doubt that it will survive in any form envisioned by Obama's team.
At every step of the way we will be reminded of the trade off that, economists say, must be made between economic recovery and ecological responsibility. It seems that they don't think we can walk and chew gum at the same time.
As long as we allow this economy vs. ecology paradigm to be the measure of even handed media coverage we will lose the ecological battles every time. This is really a question of whether we maintain an outdated world view or are willing to face the realities of the 21st Century. It seems that the Congress is stuck in the 19th century where the only thing that counts is how many $ you delivered to your district / state.
