Book Tour News--And An Actual Book!

I recorded a video for my Facebook page about the Microcosm book tour, which I've cloned below. Still fine-tuning my video interfaces...how does YouTube embed, compared to blip.tv?

Last night, a reader sent me a link to *yet another* wretched attempt to argue for the existence of God using Bayesian probability. I *really* hate that. Over the years, I've learned to dread Bayesian arguments, because *so many* of them are things like this, where someone cobbles together a pile…
A couple weeks ago I spoke at Downstate Medical Center in New York about some of my articles in the New York Times that revolve around how the mind evolved. We can learn from bacteria, fruit flies, hyenas, and our own kids. You can now see the whole lecture with surprisingly clear slides on blip.tv…
Be sure to have a look at Sahotra Sarkar's essay at The American Prospect. He describes the recent shift of emphasis on the ID side away from biology and towards physics instead. Sarkar writes: Initially largely unnoticed by their critics, creationists began to co-opt the fine-tuning argument…

Way cool. I just finished several courses in biochemistry, proteomics, molecular genetics, and cloning. E. Coli is something I would like to know more about since it is so prevalent and linked with our lives. I will certainly buy Microcosm. I will ask if they intend to have it at the university library. My third favorite subject, Myrmecology is first.

Hi Carl,

I'm excited to see you in LA. Do you happen to know where you will be reading? The Zocalo series seems to jump all over the city.

Looking good, although the preview is a bit muddled...

Will put the book up in my wish list, who knows, someone may gift me with it ;-)

I recently finished "At The Water's Edge", and it was awesome. I've definitely pre-ordered Microcosm.

No doubt that a lot of the art on my site will be inspired by quotes from this book, as well.

Will you be speaking in the Raleigh, NC area anytime soon?
