The younger Free-Ride offspring's soccer team has been playing in a regional tournament this weekend, and we're girding our loins and guarding our shins to go out and play a second day of tournament games. I'm happy that they're playing so well, but I have to say, watching games in late November…
This week may be sporadic as I focus on my graduate work, so here are the top ten posts from November as chosen by readers:

$1 = Myrmica - maybe fracticornis?
#4 = Tapinoma sessile?
I'm an ant noob :)
My guess :p
#1 Myrmica fracticornis
#2 Tetramorium caespitum
#3 Lasius alienus
#4 Tapinoma sessile
#5 Myrmecina americana
#6 Cannot make up my mind.
#1 Myrmica, but not fracticornis (possibly punctiventris)
#2 Tetramorium species E
#6 Pheidole pilifera (minor worker)
Wow, great site. I am identifying my ants in my backyard. So far I have identified Formica Fusca. Hopefully I am right with my identification. Is color just as important as morphology with the different Formicas.
