Visual scene processing in familiar and unfamiliar environments

Are you looking forward to the paper? You know you are.... an fMRI study of scene processing...
Almost through the review process...I'll post the abstract very very soon....you excited yet???

Ok... fine here's a sampler...

Humans and animals use information obtained from the local visual scene to orient
themselves in the wider world. Although neural systems involved in scene perception
have been identified, the extent to which processing in these systems is affected by
previous experience is unclear.......

I have a project that I could use your help on. Yes... you!

seriously though, very nice.

Woo hoo! This is awesome. let's see the rest of the abstract....

I'm really interested in the effect of familiarity on the efficiency and stability of cognitive processing. Just last week I wrote a short review of some relevant research here (I don't usually self-plug, but this idea is too near-and-dear).

From what I've read, the "Orienting response"
causes the brain to go into alpha brainwave
state.

I wonder whether this study will look at the
"Orienting response" and if so what the fMRI
results will be.

nope doesn't specifically ask about an orienting response.
