Only four songs from the Memorial Day music post remain unguessed, so here are some additional hints:
1) "So, she said it's time she goes, but wanted to be sure I know she hopes we can be friends."
2) "And as we sort out the who said, you said, who said, I said, I only wish I came a little better prepared."
3) "I can't stop/ The way I feel/ Things you do/ Don't seem real."
11) "She said you are the perfect stranger she said baby let's keep it like this."
#2 is legitimately kind of obscure, but the others are among the best-known songs by the artists in question. #3 gets line breaks indicated because it has very few lyrics that aren't the chorus.

Until I get around to making an iTunes run, I'm listening to the four-and-five-star playlist, which is much better fodder for the "Random Ten" thing than a bunch of filler tracks off really recent albums. We'll do this in guess-the-lyrics fashion because, well, because I can.
Despite the title,…
So, here's a different sort of scenario for an audience-participation post:
Imagine that you are in a weirdly well-stocked karaoke bar, and you have to sing a song. There's no way out of it-- if you don't you'll lose your job, rabid squid will eat your family, deranged America-hating terrorists…

Stop here, or gently pass!
Alone she cuts and binds the grain,
And sings a melancholy strain;
O listen! for the Vale profound
Is overflowing with the sound.
No Nightingale did ever chaunt
More welcome notes…
The folks on the Hold Steady fan board arranged a Mix CD exchange recently, and I agreed to take part, putting together a playlist of stuff and sending off a bunch of electronic files a couple of weeks ago (I don't know if the drive on my desktop can even burn CD's any more, even if I had blank CD'…

11) "Tunnel of Love" by Dire Straits
1. "No Myth", Michael Penn
11. "Tunnel of Love", Dire Straits
Confirmed the title of #1 with Google.
Couldn't you have used ONE Warren Zevon song??? :-)
That's all of them, though using Google is cheating...
Couldn't you have used ONE Warren Zevon song?
Hey, I'm at the mercy of the iTunes shuffle algorithm...
Thanks a lot for that riddle!
I spent an hour or two afterwards to listen to "maybe this ones" which I haven't heard for a long time. That's fun.
How did I miss "Tunnel of Love" on the first read-through?!
