The Rich Inner Life of a Toddler

Windows MovieMaker has inexplicably decided to work again, today. Maybe it can only produce useful output on odd-numbered Fridays. Whatever the reason, I was finally able to edit down and paste together a couple of really cute video clips of SteelyKid playing in her babypod:

We can (and do) watch this sort of thing for hours. She very clearly has something she's trying to do, even if we can't quite tell what it is. It's fascinating to see the wheels turning, though, and I can't wait until she can explain what she thinks is going on. whatever it is, she obviously thinks it's pretty cool.

More like this

She just bought two pairs of new shoes.
Yesterday was the funeral for my great-aunt Mildred, known within the family as "Auntie" (first syllable "ont" not "ant"), who fell and bumped her head last Friday, and just never woke up.
I'd like you to meet a friend of mine. Her name is Suzette. She's a very nice girl. She likes to talk - something, it turns out, she's very good at.
Today, I had to take care of some cats for a vacationing NYCer, so this meant that I had to brave the snow, slush and Lake Erie-sized mud-puddles in the process.

Awww...so cute! My guess is that she is trying to put on bib to her toys and feed them too.

My guess would be that she's discovering that when something is obscured (she can't see it) it can still be there.

I'm with featheredfrog. Starting at approximately 1:06, she's clearly making sure it's there under the bib then asking, in baby talk, "where is it? There it is!".

I like the very articulate "dude!" and her baby words definitely sound like muttering rather than rooba-roobaing.

What a kid!
