Thursday Monkeying Around Blogging 062311

SteelyKid is in a bit of a "no pictures" phase at the moment, which makes it kind of difficult to get weekly shots. Hence the run of Toddler Blogging pictures without Appa in them-- when we pick Appa up, she runs away.

Thus, this shot with the color balance all wonky (I could do a better job of cleaning it up, but I'm lazy), because the flash hadn't warmed up yet, and she started freaking out before I could get a better shot. It does, however, show the finest balloon animal you can get from "Mr. Twisty," who does his act at the Greenmarket every now and then:

That's a monkey climbing a tree to get a banana, per SteelyKid's request. Well, ok, what she actually asked for was a doggie climbing a tree because he was being chased by a dinosaur, combining the requests of the previous four children, but the monkey seemed more plausible, and she was very happy with it. It also serves very well as a head-bonker, provided I duck down a little bit.

Hopefully, the camera-shy phase will pass soon, or else I'm going to need to cultivate some paparazzi skills...

Today is the official release date for the paperback edition of How to Teach Physics to Your Dog, so I wanted to write up something cool about quantum
SteelyKid was in an exceptionally happy mood the other night, and so I not only got the silly face shot from the previous post, but also this more traditional Toddler Blogging picture, with Appa, no less:
Long-time readers will remember that I used to do weekly kid-blogging, posting pictures of SteelyKid with a reference animal, Appa the sky-bison from the Avatar cartoon.
SteelyKid starts second grade next week, and her summer project was to read Julius, the Baby of the World and make a poster with baby pictures of herself.
