Scientists from The Johns Hopkins University have identified two proteins, CCSA-3 and CCSA-4, found in blood that would allow detection of colon cancer and precancerous polyps without the need for a colonoscopy.

I read this with particular interest because I'm scheduled to undergo a colonoscopy next week! (Ahhhh... the joys of turning 50.) A big downside of getting older is that medical checkups involve ever increasing assaults on one's dignity.
Here's to hoping that the new blood test will make next week's little adventure my last one!

The article states that it may take several years of additional testing before CCSA-3 and CCSA-4 can be considered for used as biomarkers for colon cancer so we still have a long way to go. Good luck on your surgery next week.
