Overwhelmed at ScienceOnline 2009

i-f875c0b07d9b3cb6229668554781b35a-alice.jpgOMG I am at ScienceOnline! In (also cold) RTP! And I've now met ScienceWoman! And let me say she is as lovely in person as she is online. And I've met a whole bunch of other folks, but am still trying to sort out the politics of pseudonymity. Hopefully I'll get to post some official blogger photos later. But in the meantime, both SW's and my sessions are this morning. Wish us luck! :-)

The real world intervened (i.e., I got a nasty cold) with my best intentions to provide more thorough blogging coverage of the wonderful conference (hi everyone!). Maybe someday I'll manage to work my thoughts from the sessions into coherent blog posts, but I know I'm pretty bad about promising and…
Well, I survived. Science Online 2012 took place this past weekend and it was a blast. There's already been quite a bit of discussion in blogs and on Twitter about how it went. A very small selection of the them bits are: Scattered reflections about ScienceOnline 2012 (#scio12) Science Online…
Arikia Millikan, then-Intern at ScienceBlogs.com (now gainfully employed Ex-Intern), demonstrates her facility in liveblogging the comparison between two pinot noirs. So why has it taken me exactly 11 weeks to write this post? I think it's because once we post it, I have to let go of how awesome…
I've been giving some thought about the value I as an assistant professor find in blogging in part because it's the current Ask a Blogger question, in part because I just gave this presentation on blogging at the Inclusive Science conference, and in part because I have some blogger meetups…

I'd like to know how pseudonymity would work - do they have "name" tags with their blog name on them, but not their real name? Are you not allowed to ask them their real names, where they are from, or any other personal information? What happens if they are recognizable? Or is it is one of these things were "what happens at ScienceOnline, stays at ScienceOnline"?

Sounds like a great conference so far! Thanks for the updates!

It just never felt odd at all to address people with pseudonyms. "Hey, Scicurious, let me introduce you to Abel PharmBoy and gg"....just felt natural. Pseudonyms, like names, are just strings of sounds we use to tag people.
