At last, a new subway platform for you to enjoy looking at!
This station was recently renovated with a "retro look" makeover, complete with new plaques and tablets in the original 1904 Heins-LaFarge style. The new plaques are made of faïence and look like restorations of original work (but they are not; Lincoln Center did not exist in 1904!).

grrlscientist | July 5, 2008Since it is a holiday in the USA and my traffic was down, I spent the morning and afternoon doing things, like laundry, which are terribly boring but necessary. After I escaped the laundromat, I ended up roaming the subways and began planning a route so I could photograph the tile mosaic artworks on several subway platforms for you all to enjoy. I aborted part of my originally planned route because it was taking so long to get around, but I still managed to photograph three platforms, so stay tuned to see which of the platforms I am presenting to you tonight!

grrlscientist | June 30, 2008I called the landlord's office (again) last Friday to find out what this "rent increase" is about, and the people in the landlord's office had no ideas. As most of you know, I have been trying to find out about this "rent increase" for the past three months, by writing and calling my landlord, but he refuses to explain. Since I live in a rent stabilized apartment, all rent increases must be approved by the city before they are enacted, according to my sources.

grrlscientist | June 27, 2008As I left my apartment today to come to my coffee shop where I do much of my writing, there were two workmen dangling in the doorway, making improvements to the entryway. Since the landlord has already increased my rent (illegally, might I add) for reasons that have never been explained (he refuses to acknowledge my written letters to him, and he also refuses to speak to me on the phone or to answer my voicemails), this development sent a wave of terror over me -- I mean, I nearly barfed because I was so afraid.
