With a big enough airframe, the camera can be inside looking out, or bouncing off a 45° mirror, or both. For my Level 3 Certification, I buily a 7.5" diameter GLR Sledgehammer and fiberglassed it for strength:

awild | June 4, 2009In 2002 I took a shiny new Nikon Coolpix 995 on a research trip to Argentina and Paraguay. I'd not done much photography to that point, but it was tremendous fun. I spent nearly as much time shooting the region's charismatic ant fauna as I did working on my dissertation project. The resulting images formed the heart of a new web site, www.myrmecos.net, that went live a couple months after my return. The original myrmecos site can still be viewed at the Internet Archive.
Of course, as my equipment and aesthetic standards improved the old images I had been so proud of began to seem...…

I fiberglassed half of a plastic Easter Egg as the nose cone for an Oregon Scientific action cam, so it can be a strap-on on various rockets:

Today as I was riding the A Train to the library so I could use their free wifi, I ran into Nick and his friend who are high school students in NYC. Their hobby is science. Physics, to be precise. These pansies are actually a very delicate pale yellow color, but unfortunately, my digital camera was unable to capture this color, so they appear to be cream colored, instead.
