Pandanapping!

Some douchebag walked off with my computer bag, including my iPod, my computer, and most troublingly, Professor Steve Steve. My heart is filled with rage. Rage and distinct mourning for my lost computer.

If anyone at DragonCon finds a Timbuktu laptop bag with my goddam computer in it, my goddam cards in it, and my goddam iPod in it, the course of action least likely to damage the honor of costumed nerds would be to drop it off at lost and found in the Hilton. No questions asked. Thanks.

That's right, you can now get the full text of every Cognitive Daily post via RSS. There's just one catch: You must buy a $399 Amazon Kindle and pay 99 cents (per month, I assume) to subscribe to Cognitive Daily. I don't know if this subscription will allow you to view images, and I'm pretty…
If your iPod Touch does not work on your Windows XP, you can ... A. Uninstall and reinstall everything (Hint: Don't actually try ANY of this, it doesn't work!): Okay well I spent about an hour on the phone with Apple trying to fix this problem. The guy I talked to seemed to have delt with this…
Some weeks ago Lott wrote this article, where he dismissed concerns about fraudulent electronic voting as "conspiracy theories". As far as I can tell Lott has no expert knowledge about computers, and rather than do any research into the electronic voting machines, he has just invented his…
I have a Lenovo thinkPad X61 tablet that I use for a bunch of things, but mainly for working on the book in places that aren't my home or office on campus, and lecturing. I do use the tablet features, primarily for marking up my lecture slides (I have PowerPoint slides that I use for class, and I…

Josh...I can "feel your pain". It's happened to me a couple of times over the decades. In one instance, I never saw the lost items again. In another, however, I returned home from an out-of-state conference and received a phone call from someone who had found my computer bag and kept it for me. He sent it out (he didn't want to take money for postage) and I sent him a couple of bottles of wine as a thanks.

Fingers crossed. David

Yes, fingers crossed.

Too much to hope that you'll get postcards from Prof Steve Steve from wherever he happens to travel. (Reference ----- thought I had it, but now it's slipped my mind - Audrey Tautou and Amelie?)

What a bummer...

The photo-crew handling the photo-ops at Dragon*Con lost several computers and photo-equipments in a break-in. Including a large number of not-yet-printed shots with the entire BSG cast.

I hope you get your stuff back!
