In honor of St. Paddy's Day, a tribute to being green.
Northland Green Gecko, naultinus grayii
Green Lynx Spider, peucetia viridans
Green Hermit Hummingbird, phaethornis guy (we think)

Something happened yesterday that rarely happens. I got back from ASCO rather late and was so tired that I didn't have time to post one of my characteristic, Respectfully Insolent magnum opuses (magnum opi?). Fortunately, I had just the thing prepared.
{NOTE: Here is the post that was delayed last week due to my announcement of arson at the Holocaust History Project.}
In the leadup to Jenny McCarthy's little antivaccination-fest tomorrow, it appears the the medical community has at least roused itself enough to write an open letter to Congress about immunizations.
Unbelievable... The Octopus even matches the textural quality of the 'sea-shrub'. Do we know if it can match other plants? Or only that particular one?
I always thought hummingbirds were peace loving creatures...
they can match pretty much anything. i saw one disguise itself as a ferris wheel once.
I enjoyed your St. Paddy's concept. I don't think the hummer's a Green Hermit, though. Looks like a plain old Ruby-throat to me. The Gecko's a Gold Dust Day Gecko (Phelsuma laticauda)from Madagascar.
I'm afraid I have to agree with cpbvk - the lovely hummer's not a Green hermit (Phaethornis guy). The bill's a dead giveaway - P. guy has a long curving bill, and most hermits aren't that iridescent.
Good luck getting it ID'd tho - and great pictures.
