Ok, I did try and do a real blog post today, but it just isn't happening. We had wonderful guests this morning, and it is bloody cold, and I really need to clean the rabbit cages and then I just want to hang out and bake things that smell like cinnamon - writing is way down on the list.
So today…
It has been just about a year since I made my transition to Science Blogs, and other than the kerfuffle in July and the fact that they still don't pay us particularly often, in general, I think this has been a successful move for me - particularly in my larger goal, which was to reach a readership…
I think the unofficial Favorite Journal of ScienceBlogs has got to be the journal, Medical Hypotheses. It used to be, you could take two different approaches if you wanted to publish in Medical Hypotheses. 1-- Smash your face into your keyboard for 15 minutes. Submit for publication. Or, the…
Sorry, gang, but this is just more journal than blog - and yet another emphatic and blathering reason of why I love this town.
Had a lovely hike yesterday with PharmGirl and PharmPreSchooler to the Grottos just outside of Aspen proper, an amazing series of igneous rocks and ice caves at the base of…
My favorite wasn't on that list: "I'm mildly irritated and I'm not going to do anything about it."
Shadow the Beagle puppy was scared of large birds (chickens) the first time he encountered them but once he realized they would run from him he decided that they are fun to chase.
I thought the "I'm mad as hell in a passive-aggressive sort of way" was the most accurate.
I've seen the fear thing work the other way, though - Angus the cat wasn't afraid of chickens, in fact, he used to chase them. At least until one fairly bright rooster suddenly realized "hey, I'm pretty much as big as that thing" and turned around and chased Angus across the yard.

Rather surprisingly number 100 - but maybe 'cos i'm a Brit. It took me straight back to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-X0EjwF8o0g. I used to watch their show with my daughter 10 years ago, it was very much in the same vein as The Monkees was in the 60's, good homesome fun and good music too
Number 91 really made me laugh - but my fav wasn't there - I saw a shot on a TV story of a sign that had Palin / Voldemort 2012 :-)

The gray gander I had a year ago would put that ornery little dickens in his place! Can't have roosters; don't even have the "special use" permit I'm supposed to have, to keep hens.
