If I went back to continue my MSc thesis in solid state physics, I'd have to start again almost from the beginning. I remember next to nothing about the field (how do you do a Fermi surface average again?). And that despite the fact that I merely switched fields, and did not leave science completely for 35 years.
In other words, I'm impressed.
