maybe JoePa should try a lateral

for just the third time this season I caught the end of a Penn State football team on television, and they lost, again
it is almost as if I were jinxing them

good thing we don't believe in jinxes

one of the eternal complaints of the fans is that Penn State play calling is not imaginative enough - they should try the "Trinity Lateral"

Note the score just before the end on the bottom scroll bar.
Think JoePa will go for it?

We've written a lot on Cognitive Daily about the relationship between violent video game play and real-world aggressive behavior. While we feel the evidence showing that playing violent games does cause real aggression is compelling, a frequent critique of our analysis is that other activities,…
Some time back, I offered the right to pick a post topic to anyone who managed to name one of the Physics Nobel laureates for 2006. Tom Renbarger won, and picked his topic: OK, with Midnight Madness on the horizon, I've decided to request a sort of season preview of two (trying to press my…

I carry some of my gear to and from the lunchtime basketball game in a red and white canvas-and-mesh bag. The zipper doesn't work, and hasn't for years, and the logo on the side is almost worn off, but if you look closely, you can still make out the New York State Public High School Athletic…

I thought one of the eternal complaints of Penn State fans was that the refs were out to get them.

These are not mutually exclusive...
I jinx them;
The play calling is too conservative;
AND the refs are out to get them - I mean did you see those non-pass interference calls (ok, one of them was uncatchable, but COME ON!)

Seriously: one problem seems to be lack of intensity - the team is notably slow starting and often seems to decide it is not playing any more in the 4th quarter.
This year that might be due to lack of intensity among the on-field offensive leadership.
Whatever else you might say about Michigan, they do usually seem to show up intending to actually play the whole game.
