I have to acknowledge the very silly Mark Vernon, who considers the award a triumph. Apparently, Martin Rees accepted the award to hit back vengefully at Richard Dawkins — oh, how I wish I were in a position to wreak havoc on mine enemies by getting £1,000,000 handed to me.

Religion is bad news in the US. Any condoning of religion is bad. You just have to see the bills that Republicans are putting forward in state legislatures all over the country to see that. Creationism bills, anti birth control bills, anti abortion bills, pro gun bills, pro Christianity bills, anti womens rights bills....
