A combination of RSS reader, Twitter, blog network and forums. You can use it any way you want: broadcast only, eavesdropping only, news-gathering only, or conversation - or some kind of combo. It is better than Twitter, Facebook and Google Reader combined.

I love FriendFeed. "Sad" thing is that Google is planning something similar but probably much better with Google Wave. That could mean the ultimate death blow for FF...
