Americans are lucky now. They can vote a bad king out of office, rather than having to commit sedition and high treason and wage war to do it. For now, at least.
Unless I'm confused, Aaron has the same ability to vote an American president out of office as I do, ie. none (minor matter of citizenship and a border).
If bad ol' King GWB really wanted to see the how warlike Americans can be all he would have to do is try to prevent his replacement by election. This country would be ungovernable by a dictator, but we have some, ableit old, experience at civil war.
People do not remain constant over time. Your grandparents' generation might have fought. I worry about this one. This is so much like last days of the Roman Republic.
What is sad is not that you are right, but that you are half right. The most belligerent of Americans are precisely those who support the belligerency of Bush. Those most likely to oppose him are the least likely to have the skill necessary and it is a foregone conclusion whose side the U.S. military would be on.

God, I hope you still can.

Sorry? Canada isn't part of America?
[Oh, OK, my bad...]
