Myers Throws Self on Hand Grenade, Saves Evolutionary Biologist

This is unbelievable!!!! I am outraged yet not surprised. I am incensed yet entertained. I am frightened yet ever determined to cast off the yoke of oppression. And so on.

You MUST GO HERE NOW and READ THIS. You will laugh, you will cry, you will punch a fist through the wall, and you will never look at a police officer, a movie theater, or a creationist in the same way again. Ever.

I think I am now officially old. I think this because I was horrified by this article, from HuffPo: Movie theaters and entertainment venues have long banned the use of smartphones during performances. But now one venue just outside Seattle is reversing that etiquette by welcoming cellphone and…
Yes, I am one of many SciBlings and other bloggers who got offered to pre-screen Randy Olson's new movie "Sizzle" (check the Front Page of scienceblogs.com for links to all the others). I was reluctant at first, but in the end I gave in and agreed to preview a copy. Why was I reluctant? As a…
I went to see Expelled yesterday. I am happy to report it was a private screening. Had the theater to myself. Last time that happened was when I saw Snakes on a Plane (a far more scientifically accurate film, by the way). Granted, it was a Monday night. Indeed, when I go to see movies I nearly…
I was reading Roger Ebert's lament over the disgraceful decline of quality in theater projection (a function of theater owners who just don't care anymore and the corrupting influence of bad 3D), and then I remembered that last year I took some pictures of the funky old technology in our local…

Oh, calm down a bit, Greg! I can't help but think that P.Z. got a kick out of being kicked out while Dawkins got to stay and see the film, which was probably very annoying,

All in all it's a very amusing incident. I suppose the security guards had photos of possible insurrectionists?

My guess is that the producers knew about PZ, but did not realize that the line would be indurated with anti-Expelled observers (there were many) and had no clue that Dawkins would be there. I suspect that they teamed up with the Twin Cities Creation Science Association or some other watchdog group and had lackeys looking out for PZ. This is all specuation, of course.

It's even better than that. It's better than I could have imagined. There was a guest list. They were both on it using their own names. Somebody (appears to be the producer) just wasn't smart enough to spot Dawkins' name.

How crazy is it that he was on the guest list, yet they threw him out? And then let RD walk on in! It's as if they were trying to look like total nutballs.

Hey Tegumai,

You got me all excited. I've been wanting to see a scientist like Dawkins in Maher's show in a long time. It seems he couldn't make it? His name is not there (anymore?)

"How crazy is it that he was on the guest list, yet they threw him out? And then let RD walk on in! It's as if they were trying to look like total nutballs."

Maybe they were just operating on the theory that there's no such thing as bad publicity...?
