How can you tell what a megalomaniac is really up to? You find out what the megalomaniac is accusing everyone else of. That's what they are up to.
While the just barely brighter than dim press and pundits are focusing on Trump's call for his followers to carry out voter suppression in African American and Hispanic neighborhoods on November 8th, or before at early voting elections, and accusing the Democrats of voter fraud (suppression and fraud are different, sort of opposite, things) something different is actually happening.
This is how dog whistles work. Dog whistles, usually used by conservatives, are thought by liberals to be a way of saying things that you can't actually say because they are obnoxious or illegal. But no, that is not how they actually work. Dog whistles are much more subtle and nuanced than that. The recipients of the message unwittingly (but not unwillingly) adopt opinions or, in some cases, carry out acts, directed by constantly repeated well placed dog whistles.
The dog whistles are not explicit instructions. The are cues that set up a mind set that leads to a desire to act or think in a certain way.
Think about it. If you tell people who hate Democrats and Hillary Clinton that Democrats and Hillary Clinton are going to carry out voter fraud, again, and again, and again, what are they going to do? They are going to a) carry out their own voter fraud and b) do so with the justification that they are afraid that the other side is busy carrying out voter fraud.
So, from the Huffington Post, on reporting several apparent cases of voter fraud in Iowa:
Police in Des Moines, Iowa, said Friday that they had arrested Terri Lynn Rote, 55, on suspicion of voting twice in the general election.
Rote, a registered Republican, allegedly submitted ballots at two different early-voting locations in Polk County, Iowa...
She said she feared her first vote for Trump would be changed to a vote for Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
There are two other individuals in the same area being looked at, neither has been arrested yet.
Apparent voting felon Rote is known to have commented, “I wasn’t planning on doing it twice. It was a spur of the moment," a comment for which charges from the local grammar police are expected soon.
The behavior of Donald Trump and Lafayette Ronald Hubbard are identical. It's spooky.
Our voting systems should not allow ANYBODY to vote more than once per election.
Whether it is at two different precincts in the same state or whether it is two different states (say vote in Minnesota in the morning, then fly to Florida and vote again).
This sort of action should be caught and prosecuted.
I think everybody should agree with that.
Ricka: "Our voting systems should not allow ANYBODY to vote more than once per election."
I have no idea who your "our" is, but here in the USA our voting system does not allow people to vote more than once. Shit, for millions of citizens our voting systems don't allow them to vote even once.
Ol' L.Ron and Twump certainly have a lot of unsavory characteristics in common. You seem to be referring to their ability to confuse and control others. Confusion and control. An awful lot of human behavior is tied up in those two things. It would be interesting to see a mathematical or symbolic representation of the complex human act which is purposeful confusion, or lying. Somehow T.Rump has managed to mask his true inner persona from his supporters, while making them feel that he is going to do something positive for them. Truly a master of deceit. As was, apparently, ol' L. Ron.

Hubbard loved to abuse, rob, harm, and lie to people just to see how much his victims would let him get away with.
Like Hubbard, Trump is a low-hierarchy submissive male who acts like he believes alpha males act, which is the opposite of how they actually act (in the ape family, as in other mammals, it is the submissive low-hierarchy males who abuse youngsters and mature females).
Also like Hubbard, Trump has discovered that he cannot say and cannot do anything that will stop his followers from supporting (voting) for him.
Her excuse is exactly what everyone knew it would be:
It would not be surprising to see rickA come out and say that voter fraud is a widespread problem, just as the rebublican liars at the top of the party assert, in complete opposition to evidence.
The western portion of Michigan is full of these low-IQ, lower-integrity, right wingers. For some reason one of the most recent bits of evidence that hillary is involved in some nefarious plan to destroy democracy is the assertion that her daughter married a grandson of George Soros (how that would mean anything is never explained). The fact that it is shown false at many sites "just shows how biased the media is" for her.
When folks are as consistently opposed to facts as the right wing political folks (or the folks like rickA, who repeatedly deny many areas of science), and their numbers grow, society moves closer to being royally screwed.
RickA, the law disallows it, and people who try it are generally a) very rare and b) caught.
You shouldn't have attracted the attention of the grammar police. They have detected a "should of" in your James Comey post.
Greg..... grammar police reference in irony?
Protection of the (presumed) innocent department: the woman shown in the picture above looks nothing like the one in the police mug shot.
The woman in the photo at the top of this post has been identified as Terri Lynn Rote. Mugshot notwithstanding.
Pierce, they appear to be the same exact woman. Maybe you are not good with faces or something.
Plus, this has now been independently verified, apparently.
Dean, there doesn't have to be a valid quid pro quo connection between HRC and Soros. Just throwing out his name is enough for Trump supporters.
They take the fact that Soros is rich and liberal as proof of corruption, just as the fact that Al Gore is rich and flies a lot is taken as proof that climate change is not a problem.
People like Soros must give right-wingers fits of cognitive dissonance...
On the one hand, they're programmed to deify him because he's in the upper strata of "rich"...
While on the other hand, they're programmed to condemn him because he's "a librul".
I guess being "a librul" must outweigh filthy rich. Even thieves have their "moral codes".
Brainstorms @ # 12 & Greg Laden @ #s 13 & 14 - Thanks for the correction - but take a look at the picture in my link, and you'll see why the differences (from hair color to facial shape) struck me more than the similarities.
If someone told me they were sisters or or mo/da, I'd buy it.

What a great way of looking at it. Trump poses as an alpha male, gathering up a whole posse of loser males, people who feel some sort of resonance with this king of the schlubs!
How interesting that this modern election, what with all the instant access to new developments, and all the insight offered by modern technology, is still dominated by simple simian hormonal economics and tribal tradition. A childlike, Neanderthalish, groping, uncivil, media wise, narcissistic schlub with a silver spoon kick start has managed to dominate the Republican party. Should I be surprised?
Folks will be able to to analyze the human dynamics of this election for centuries.
What an interesting election season.

I like that the astrologer Michael Lutin said about the subject in his play "Pluto in Scorpio: the Musical." The beginning of human society was when a bunch of low-hierarchy submissive males banded together and killed and ate the high-hierarchy males. Politics is all about the powerful trying to inflict enough damage to keep their rivals from replacing them, and Trump's followers are a fine example--- Trump's supporters RUN THE COUNTRY and have been doing so for centuries, and they are terrified at no longer being allowed to do so.
"Dean, there doesn’t have to be a valid quid pro quo connection between HRC and Soros. "
I suppose. I am still stunned that something as simple as showing that Chelsea's husband is not related to Soros is denied as "just another liberal lie" though. Truly depressing.
Trump’s supporters RUIN THE COUNTRY and have been doing so for centuries
