Colliding Galaxies

The latest spectacular image from the Hubble Space Telescope: the sharpest picture ever of the merging galaxies known as the Antennae. The Milky Way and Andromeda galaxies may be doing something very similar in about 4 billion years.

All those new stars being created by the collision and eventual merger of these two galaxies will almost inevitable include some that will nourish life. Whatever convergently evolves into an avian niche will doubtless provide excellent watching opportunities for birder-equivalents in several billion years.

It's not terribly hard to see why the Bush Crime Family us doing everything possible to destroy Hubble! It has opened all of our imaginations, brought Science to the forefront with pictures of mind-blowing beauty Hubble has confirmed the vastness and age of the universe, not something a Creationist politician wants confirmed!
That upsets the base, busy with their superstitious conjuring; one can't rant about abortion and school prayer as truth, not with the world Hubble opens for all of us.
