George Bush, who loves to ignore the facts in favor of telling a good fairy tale, denied that al-Qaeda is as strong as it was at the time of the 9/11 attacks. Just as he does with science, Bush ignored recent media coverage of a US intelligence report entitled Al-Qaeda Better Positioned to Strike the West, which claimed that intelligence analysts told Congress on Wednesday that al-Qaeda had created a safe haven in remote parts of Pakistan.
In short, the report flatly stated that Al-Qaeda is "considerably operationally stronger than a year ago" and has "regrouped to an extent not seen since 2001."
Considering that this report was produced by American Intelligence experts, I am concerned -- does Bush know more than they do about their own field? If so, how does a C student who went AWOL from a fake military engagement come to know more than experts in the field?
However, Bush, being more knowledgeable than his advisors, casually brushed this report aside, claiming; "There is a perception in the coverage that al-Qaeda may be as strong today as they were prior to September 11. That's just simply not the case."
Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.

I heard this today, too. So who's wrong, him or Michael "gut feeling" Chertoff?
Bush knows more than the scientists when it comes to stem cell research and global warming, so it makes sense that he also knows more than the intelligence professionals.
Who needs expertise? All you need is political loyalty - that's all the knowledge necessary in the Bush universe.
George W. Bush is God's Chosen President. Therefore he just has to say what he wants and God will make it so.
