I lucky enough to see a screening of Microcosmos on the big screen. The footage is just incredible...
It's a shame they changed the music for this clip. The film had the snails set to classical music, I believe... it was probably the most tender, intimate sex scene I've ever seen on film.
Yeah, I love Air, but the original is set to an opera aria (online reviews say it's Puccini), and it's much more effective. I saw it on the big screen *and* own it on video. (bug nerd.)
Can you influence science blogs to fix your rss feed channel please? It hasn't worked since the 16th.
thanks in advance.
Chickca Chickca Bow Wow..
Safe for work, eh?
My boss is a snail and thanks to you i just got fired.
I just showed Microcosmos to my class as an intro to ecology. They loved this part. And the ladybug sex, too. Then I had to explain that not all ladybugs were ladies.
Agree about the music, though. Original score is much better.
"Life in the Undergrowth" has an even hotter scene featuring leopard slugs.
Those leopard slugs are truly amazing. Once you get past the "slime factor", they are actually quite beautiful.
