This is one of my favorite places to visit in Helsinki, Finland.

Suomenlinna was quite a nice spot, especially in August when I visited it. The history behind it is quite amusing as well. The Swedes folded like a deck of cards!
erik -- i hope that i can see and experience suomenlinna this summer so i can add to my collection of images.
a finnish friend went with me to suomenlinna this last time that i visited and told me stories about the history of the place. this was honestly one of the most enjoyable experiences! i learned so much and just had a great time. as an added bonus, he also is a birder, and pointed out a raven flying over -- they are RARE in helsinki, so rare that he had to send a text to a friend in the hopes that he might spot the bird when it flew over helsinki proper.
