As anyone with internet access and any objectivity knows, polar bears populations are not in decline.

Sterling Burnett wrote, "Since the 1970s, while much of the world was warming, polar bear numbers increased dramatically, from roughly 5,000 to 25,000 bears."[6] This increase coincides with changes in hunting practices which began in the early 1970s."
Nor are the cute (well at least if you aren't close enough for them to eat you) furry white carnivores going to become extinct in the unlikely event that the arctic ice cap completely dissapears during summer months. They obvioulsy survived the last interglacial when the arctic was ice free in the summer, probably for thousands of years.
But of course, politics, emotion and a good photo-op are more important than scientific fact. It's really about "framing" the issue correctly.
Looks to me like AGW is all "frame" and no picture.
