We went down to visit Kate's parents on Wednesday, so I wasn't able to post the weekly bison-for-scale picture. I did get one, though, so here it is a few days late:
This also gives us a chance to show off her "Smart Cookie" onesie, which I picked up because it's a nice break from the frilly pink princessy crap that dominates the girl-baby clothing market. SteelyKid is adorably cute, to be sure, but that's not all she has to offer.
A different sense-of-scale option is below the fold:
This is the "airplane" carrying configuration, which sometimes helps quiet her down when she's a little colicky. As a bonus, it provides a great excuse to chase the dog around the house making airplane noises.
You take fun where you can find it.

SteelyKid had her two-month check-up in Monday (her two-month birthday was Tuesday), and checking in with the medical profession means we've got the opportunity for some baby science. And it's not science without graphs:
That's SteelyKid's weight as a function of time. Like most babies, she…
We had a pediatrician appointment yesterday, at which it was declared that SteelyKid is in excellent health. She gained 8 ounces in the last week, or 1/16th of her weight (she was 8lbs even last week, and 8lbs 8oz this week). To put that in perspective, for me to make an equivalent change, I would…
Behold, the incredible expanding baby:
The "Smart Cookie" onesie she's wearing was also featured in the Week 4 picture, and now, it basically doesn't fit her any more (it's not fully buttoned under the blanket). We've already had to retire a couple of boxes of little-baby clothes, and she never…
In response to my call for uncomfortable questions, Ewan goes for the jugular:
what do you think your biggest failing as a father has been to date?
See, this is the sort of thing I'm talking about...
The answer is "I get frustrated too easily."
The first few weeks SteelyKid was home, I could get…
Dude, you look like a giant in that picture.
Normally, that perspective would make one's head look small.
Hey! She's bigger than the Bison!
I have always called that the football carry, good for people with large hands.

Just a warning for the future - the pink frilly princess stuff continues to dominate the girl aisles even after they are past the onesie stage. Chasing the dog with airplane baby sounds like fun for the whole family!
There's also 'astronaut' training: holding her up toward the ceiling, on her back, letting her sag into a yoga-like pose. I don't know if SteelyKid would like that as much as my Cub does, but it's one thing that makes our little lass giggle up a storm.
MRW--thanks much for the link! Those are great! Mrs. MP is tickled, er, pink...
My deepest sympathies to Emmy.

I love the weekly pictures with the reference bison!
Congratulations and ongoing best wishes to your whole family.
