Monckton

Gareth Renowden has uncovered the true story of Monckton's visit to Australia. (Note to Tim Blair: I'm using "true story" ironically.) Tim Blair, who used to call fellow journalist Margo Kingston "the Margoyle", has gone all politically correct on us. He's outraged, outraged I tell you that the Age published a photo that emphasised Monckton's protruding eyes, a symptom of Graves' disease. How dare they mock his appearance? Why can't they treat him like the SMH treated Adam Hills and crop the evidence of his complaint out of the photo? I hope my photo of Monckton will be to Blair's…
After discovering the cure for the common cold Christopher Monckton has taken up constitutional law. "If by some miss chance the ETS scheme proceeds any further and actually gets passed into law, the next thing that will happen is that the courts will call it in and it will be declared unconstitutional and that would bring the Government down,'' Lord Monckton said. I think his argument must go something like this:
After embracing Monckton's theory that Copenhagen was going to introduce a COMMUNIST WORLD GOVERMENT, Jane Albrechtsen seems to backing away from Monckton's conspiracy theories: Unfortunately, while Monckton has mastered the best arts of persuasion, he also succumbs to the worst of them when he engages in his made-for-the-stage histrionics. In Copenhagen, when a group of young activists interrupted a meeting, he berated them as Nazis and Hitler Youth. Elsewhere he has called on people to rise up and fight off a "bureaucratic communistic world government monster". This extremist language…
Off in Wootsup land someone called Gudfry is having trouble with the portrayal of Monckton on wikipedia, saying: I see Connelly and his "tag-team" are at it again. This time it's about the many disputed entries about Lord Monckton, the prominent anti-AGW campaigner. Many contributors have argued that they have chosen a picture of him which is unflattering, and at worst, deliberately derogatory - which is agaist wiki rules. After a temporary removal, there has been an edit war which Connelly's tag-team have won, insisting that it stays. See "Discussion" page onhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…
Christopher Monckton's visit gets covered in the Sydney Morning Herald. On Monckton's argument that climate sensitivity us just one-sixth of the generally accepted value: The argument Lord Monckton mounted has been painstakingly picked apart by several eminent climate-change researchers, but it was an Australian computer scientist, Tim Lambert, who helped collate many of the flaws on his website. "A lot of the equations used to cover it up were right, but the argument was complete gibberish," Mr Lambert said. The hypothesis took the lowest possible range of carbon dioxide's known warming…
Christopher Monckton will trouser $20,000 for an Australian Tour with Ian Plimer on backing vocals. To celebrate both The Australian and The Daily Telegraph printed extracts from Monckton's letter to Prime Minister Kevin Rudd generously offering to brief Rudd about climate science. Monckton always makes lots of errors when he writes about science, but this letter may have broken his previous record for quickest mistake with one in the very first word: His Excellency Mr Kevin Rudd Rudd's correct title is The Hon. Kevin Rudd, MP The editor at The Daily Telegraph didn't notice the mistake…
Gareth Renowden's latest post on Monckton is pretty funny, but how can anyone compete with this? Monckton said he had "never believed heterosexual HIV is a myth," but insisted that the correct policy at start of any epidemic is to "isolate all carriers immediately," a position he advocated in the 1980s on HIV/AIDS. Unprompted, Monckton told us he is now "working on what may prove to be a cure for HIV," but provided no further explanation or comment. (Via Brendan Demelle, who notes that Monckton is lying about calling some protesters "Hitler Youth" despite video proof that he did.)
Gareth Renowden has uncovered the shocking story behind Christopher Monckton's screed at Pajamas Media.
Janet Albrechtsen (writing in The Australian, of course) is asked a question by her teenage daughters: Emails started arriving telling me about a speech given by Christopher Monckton, a former adviser to Margaret Thatcher, at Bethel University in St Paul, Minnesota, on October 14. Monckton talked about something that no one has talked about in the lead-up to Copenhagen: the text of the draft Copenhagen treaty. You can read a transcript of Monckton's claims here. Monckton reckons that the environmentalists "are about to impose a communist world government on the world". (As opposed to…
Seriously. And then a gullible journalist named Michael Coren wrote it down and put it in the Winnipeg Sun. Ed Darrell has the details.
Hey, remember how Monckton got published in a UFO magazine? Well, now he's in a Larouche publication, Executive Intelligence Review (see cover to right), being interviewed about the IPCC plan to RULE THE WORLD. However, they are not concerned with whether there is a problem or not. They merely wish to pretend that there is a problem, and try to do so with a straight face, for long enough to persuade, not the population, because we have no say in this, but the governing class in the various memberstates of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change: That they should hand over…
Gavin Schmidt has caught Christopher Monckton in yet another fabrication. Monckton published graphs that purport to show that temperatures and CO2 concentrations haven't followed IPCC projections, but the IPCC projections Monckton plots are fictional. Schmidt graphs the actual projections, and surprise, surprise they give a very different picture. And in comments there, Igor Samoylenko writes With his latest shenanigans in the US, Monkton managed to catch the attention of Private Eye (a satirical current affairs magazine in the UK). In the latest issue 1235, they noted several things (quite…
Folks are commenting on John Shimkus' act with Monckton at the Congressional hearing on adaptation to climate change. For example, PZ Myers: Shimkus explain how he knows CO2 is not a problem. It's because the Bible is the inerrant word of his god, and he knows god isn't going to end the world with global warming. Steve Benen There's a genuine policy discussion to be had about climate change. If policymakers like Shimkus and Barton represent the mainstream of House Republican thought, this discussion won't be bipartisan. Indeed, for humanity's sake, it can't be. Kevin Grandia: Republicans…
Allow me to shorten Heartland's 2009 International Conference on Climate Change for you. Joseph L. Bast: Bray's survey shows that there is no consensus. Vaclav Klaus: Environmentalists have a secret plan to "return mankind centuries back". Richard Lindzen: It is an error to say "It's the sun!" Tom McClintock: Al Gore is fat. And, it's the sun! Lawrence Solomon: Environmental organizations are pawns of the foundations that fund them. Tom Segalstad: Total human emissions of CO2 are twice the alleged increase in atmospheric CO2, therefore human emissions cannot be the cause of the increase. Syun…
Gareth Renowden notices that Monckton has corrected the misattribution on his graph. Unfortunately, Monckton has preserved the number of errors in his graph by replacing that error with another one. (And yes this graph appeared in his presentation to the Heartland conference. I also see that Monckton has now written an 18 page document on the commie plot against him. The villain in Monckton's fantasy is Lawrence Krauss. I imagine that Monckton thinks Krauss looks like the picture on the right. Some highlights: First, [Krauss] approached The Guardian, which reliably supports every Leftist…
Gareth Renowden tells the story of Monckton & the case of the missing Curry.
Looks like our favourite fabulist (or someone who writes and thinks exactly like him) is busy editing the Wikipedia page on Christopher Monckton. William Connolley (or "failed Green Party candidate in the pay of a convicted internet-gaming fraudster and money-launderer") has the details.
I think the funniest part of Monckton's open letter to John McCain is his description of himself at the beginning: His contribution to the IPCC's Fourth Assessment Report in 2007 - the correction of a table inserted by IPCC bureaucrats that had overstated tenfold the observed contribution of the Greenland and West Antarctic ice sheets to sea-level rise - earned him the status of Nobel Peace Laureate. His Nobel prize pin, made of gold recovered from a physics experiment, was presented to him by the Emeritus Professor of Physics at the University of Rochester, New York, USA. He has lectured at…
Monckton continues to entertain: Dear Professor Serene - A Fellow of the APS has drawn my attention to a new policy apparently adopted by the Executive Board of the American Physical Society, to the effect that every paper published in any APS journal must in future carry a disclaimer to the effect that it has not been peer-reviewed. The Executive Board appears to have acted thus because Lawrence Krauss, a notorious, Marxist political activist who found uncongenial the conclusions of a paper by me that appeared in the July 2008 issue of Physics and Society, came under pressure from his…
Monckton should have SPPI investigated for making him look like a "potty peer", because they've published a wrongheaded piece of his about the hockey stick, where he calls for Mann, Bradley and Hughes to be put on trial for genocide. Yes, really. "The environmental extremists, who have already killed 50 million children through malaria by their now-canceled ban on the use of DDT, the only effective agent against the anopheles mosquito that spreads the infective parasite, are already eagerly killing millions more through their latest scientifically-baseless scare -- the "global warming"…
