Jim Zoes was kind enough to send me the data on English homicide rates that he obtained from the Home Office. I've typed it in and included it at the end of this message. The numbers are certainly higher than those recorded in the WHO Statistical Yearbook. I'll try to find out why, but for now I…
For the 42nd installment of this photo-a-day thing, it seems appropriate to try to do some SCIENCE! to get an Answer. So, here's a composite of a bunch of images I took yesterday in order to investigate something: Graph paper shot with several different lenses, to look for distortion of the images…

For my birthday I was given a vintage Super Baldina camera. A German model first manufactured in 1938, it has a coupled rangefinder and pop-out lens. At the time it cost an impressive $58 dollars, around $900 in today's money. Wow! It's very pretty. My flatmate picked it up in an antiques store…

The film size for roll film would be determined by the width of the negative, not the length. I have no idea what 616 film is. But the 2-1/4 width is standard ol' 120 film . You know, Hasselblad size. (Maybe 616 was just a longer roll to accomodate the longer frames and get a reasonable number of pix on a roll.)

If that doesn't work, try a Holga.
