Leaving RDU at noon, arriving in SF in the afternoon. If Janet remembers to bring her camera to dinner tonight, she'll post them on her blog so check it out later tonight or tomorrow. If she brings her laptop, I'll check my e-mail and comments (and of course my Sitemeter!) briefly - if not, I'll be back online on Friday. I have scheduled just a couple of little things to show up here automatically while I was gone....and you can always read the long post from earlier this morning.
I forgot, while there was still enough time, to pick up Professor Steve Steve, so he is not coming with me. He's been everywhere, but I doubt he's seen the offices of PLoS yet, especially not on a Thursday! Hopefully, there will be another opportunity soon.

My spring traveling schedule has now crystallized. This is my schedule - if you are in any of those places at just the right time, let me know and let's meet.
I'll be arriving in London on April 9 early in the morning. I'd like to have a huge bloggers' meetup that first night, if possible, as I…
This post has been written in advance and scheduled for automatic posting. At the time this post shows up, I'll be sleeping my first night in San Francisco. A few hours later, I'll be at PLoS offices and will hopefully have online access soon after so I can post my first impressions.
As most of…
Around the time you read this, barring any flight delay agonies, I will have touched down at Heathrow Airport to spend a week in London. It's the first real vacation that my wife and I have taken, possibly since our honeymoon. Certainly it's been the first time I've been out of the country since…
I have been taking pictures to share with you but unfortunately, forgot the equipment necessary to download the images from my camera to my laptop, so we all will have to wait a little while longer. I am disappointed by this because London is so story-book magical and you all just have to see it!
I…
Good luck on your interview. I'll be rooting for you, and PLoS would be well-advised to make you an offer you can't refuse (even if it does mean living in the big city in a small apartment, without horses or conservative Southern Baptists). And since you will not be back until Friday: Happy Birthday to you and many happy returns! I hope you get lots of gifts from pleased readers.
Good luck, or break a leg, whichever you prefer!
The camera battery is charging even as I type this!
Bora, very best wishes for safe travels and a successful interview. PLoS would be lucky to have you in their stead and it would be great to see your energies channeled with a leader in the open-access community. Say howdy to Janet and keep us all posted.
SF is the happiest, most gloriously exciting city in the whole wide world. The PLoS office is a few doors down from a lovely coffee shop called Philz, makers of the most luscious coffee that has ever warmed my mouth.
I love San Francisco.
Wishing you the best of luck.
Good luck Bora. I hope you get the job too.
Sorry I couldn't meet you in the afternoon, had class and then went to the lab to talk genetics. I hope you get the job-- it sounds great-- and Philz has wonderful coffee! I'm about a 40 minute bus ride (or 15 minute car) from there.
Best of luck Bora.
It would be presumptious if you said it but the rest of us have such confidence in you:
Bora, puno sreÄe na novom poslu.
I'm not sure whether we should be wishing you luck, or wishing PLoS luck.
So I guess I'll wish you both luck!
Bob
