A tourist in San Francisco - buildings

It was a tough, long and gruelling week at work, so i decided, after sleeping late, to do what I have not done yet - play tourist and go see famous sites in San Francisco. I took a cab to Pier 39, then spent a few hours slowly walking back home. In this and next few posts, you can see what I saw, but, for the benefit of people with modems, I will put most of the pictures under the fold, so keep clicking on the "Read More" button underneath each post:

The year in review meme is too random to really capture the highlights of a year on a blog. So, here is a collection of links that I think mark the most important moments of this blog in the last year: January (297 posts) was dominated by the science blogging anthology and the science blogging…
Kate and I spent last week in Rome, to attend the wedding of a friend of mine from college, who was marrying an Italian woman. I've always wanted to see Rome, so this was a great excuse, and of course I took a lot of pictures-- over 1,600 all told. This happens in part because when I'm visiting a…

A May 9, 2007 post, wondering to telecommute or not. I will be offline for a couple of days so I will not be able to post at my usual frantic pace. Instead, I decided to write something that will take you a couple of days to read through: a very long, meandering post, full of personal anecdotes.…

I too envy you seeing this city for the first time. Having lived here for so long and having had many visitors over the years, I think I grew immune to the sites. It is good to see someone enjoying our beautiful city for the first time.

I used to love playing those old arcade games, going to the camera obscura and having a meal at the Cliff House. When I first started working in the financial district, my friends and I used to up to North Beach Fridays after work. I have many fond memories of doing the things you have been doing.

Enjoy being a tourist!
