In one of my talks, I sometimes put up an ad which suggests that one day, there will be the astrological-type divination of fate via genetics - instead of a horoscope, a geneticscope if you will. The ad reads: But the truth is, is that in some respects, we're really not that far off. So for fun…
Noted zombie novelist Jonathan Maberry as a two part post on his blog, Why Zombies? and Why Zombies? - Part 2. The second post, btw, has one of the classic blog sentences of all time: "When I reached out to the zombie community to ask 'WHY ZOMBIES?' I got so many terrific responses that I broke the…
I've got a new article in Nature this week on the growing number of learning and memory enhanced strains of mice, and what these smart rodents can teach us about the human mind. I also discuss Luria's The Mind of A Mnemonist and the stunning research demonstrating that the cognitive deficits of…
Darwin Day - his 198th birthday - is coming up soon, on February 12th. Are you planning on writing a post on that day? Last year I put together a linkfest of all the notable blogospheric contributions for the Darwin Day. Although the number of science blogs has increased greatly since then, I…

I enjoyed the Dr. Horrible series.

I don't think that they are embeddable, and for a reason. In some of the background info on the site Joss Whedon mentions that the videos will "disappear" on the 20th or 21st, to reappear later in some downloadable form for a small fee.

You lot have been out-geeked by the knitting and crochet geeks at Ravelry. I noticed a new group for fans of Dr. Horrible late last night, and when I checked Ravelry just now, there were 79 members of that group already. :-)

They're already downloadable, for 2 bucks each or 5 for all three. Considering that this & the dvd are the only way the company (writer, actors, crew) will make any money, I'd urge people not to embed them. Or at the very least only embed one, to lure people to watch the whole thing.
