Trump Doubles Down on Immigration; Promises Tacos for Everyone

I was half expecting Trump to soften on immigration. The logic of that? His main supporters, who hate all immigrants and are a bunch of racist slobs will vote for Trump no matter what he says because the are morons. But, the fence sitters, the amoral "Good Republicans" who would vote for him because they have learned to fear Democratic economic policies (this group are also all morons) might vote for him if he was less crazy sounding.

But no, that didn't happen. Instead, he embarrassed our nation buy telling the President of Mexico, to his face, that he's going to have to pay for this wall. Then he gave the most clearly hateful immigration speech yet.

But, there will be taco truck on every corner. Trump is going to lose and there will be taco trucks on every corner. THEY PROMISED!!!!!!

The gentleman speaking on behalf of Trump makes a very interesting, racist point. Mexican culture is dominant. The Spanish never conquered Mexico, we are told. If you don't control Mexicans, they will take over. If you don't realize that, it is just because you haven't been to Mexico lately. Seriously, he said that!

And, he tells us that for this reason, if Trump doesn't win this election, there will be a taco truck on every corner. Because, I guess, that is what a dominant culture does.

I'm going to be really pissed if there are not taco trucks on every corner at the end of this. Dammit.

I have a love-hate relationship with farmers. I have a great deal of respect for the enterprise and for those who dedicate their lives to it. But, I also become annoyed at the culture in which modern American farming embeds itself. And, I don't feel a lot of reticence talking openly about that.…

Given the number of street corners in this country, the tremendous impact of manufacturing all those trucks, stocking them with food, and manning them will be a YUGE boost to the economy. Trust me, it'll be enormous. Bigger than my hands. You can write that down. It'll make America great again.

Gosh, it's great to see the United States Supreme Court was absolutely correct about the USA finally being free from racism. Why, Trump and his cult followers prove it.

Meanwhile, taco trucks on every corner?! Woo hoo!

One might recall Dan Adamson who campaigned for the job of Idaho governor on the "Hey, Idaho Mexicans! Get a free taco if you vote [for me]!" idea. He even wrote this and put it on his web site:

"Viva El Taco Gratis! Yes, the Dan Adamson for Governor Campaign is attempting to lure the Latino vote. What campaign in Idaho's history has ever made room for descendants of Mexican or other Latino geographic locations? Never, so this is our opportunity to show as much favor as we can to get these individuals registered to vote and to vote Dan Adamson for Governor."

My opinion, based on being around him all day for 14 days, Dan was (and probably still is) every bit as vile a human being as Trump is.

What the hell is it with revolting disgusting Republican Party politicians and their obsession with tacos?

"Taco" envy, of course.

(They have small hands, so they need to compensate.)

Brainstorms - true it would be a boost to the economy but think of the CO2 pollution that would cause, not to mention the additional methane production - buy stock in Beano!

Facebook is FULL OF TACOS this morning. There is an image of hundreds of tacos climbing Trump's wall to get into the USA.

At least in the US there are various kinds of Mexican food, California Mexican is very different than Tex-ex for example. Given the heritage of the indigenous folks in Mexico (the folks here when the Aztecs were conquered different regions of Mexico have different cuisines.
Interestingly Tacos may have taken over from white bread for example, but that is just discovery by folks in the US of what other cuisines offer.
Of course if you want to talk about change, when I grew up in MI in the 1960s there was no mexican food about, chinese was just coming in. I moved to Ca in the early 1970s and discovered their form of Mexican Food, and then to Tx and its form of mexican food.

@5. Doug Alder : "think of the CO2 pollution that would cause, .."

Hey, they could be solar or electric (from renewable energy) powered taco trucks couldn't they?

It's wrong in my opinion to think of this Trump speech as his "Goldwater moment." A poll reported last night put the share of Trump supporters who fear a Hillary Clinton presidency at 80 percent. Trump may not have many supporters among Latinos, but this shouldn't lead to complacency about a Hillary Clinton victory.

Donald Trump Is Running for Richard Nixon’s Third Term
From the ‘Silent Majority’ slogan to the secret plans to win the war, a prodigious enemies list, and a surreal commitment to ‘bring us together,’ it’s Tricky Dick all over again.

Donald Trump.

Bush Jr was actually the administration of Darth Vader, aka Dick Cheney.

Nixon is considered way too liberal by today's conservatives.
