Rowling both Euphoric and Mourning

JK Rowling (pictured) has been writing her phenomenal Harry Potter series for 17 years, and it will finally come to an end when her seventh and last book is released on 21 July 2007. How does she feel about that?

"I always knew that Harry's story would end with the seventh book, but saying goodbye has been just as hard as I always knew it would be," she writes.

"Even while I'm mourning, though, I feel an incredible sense of achievement. I can hardly believe that I've finally written the ending I've been planning for so many years. I've never felt such a mixture of extreme emotions in my life, never dreamed I could feel simultaneously heartbroken and euphoric."

"I'm almost scared to admit this, but one thing has stopped me collapsing in a puddle of misery on the floor. While each of the previous Potter books has strong claims on my affections, 'Deathly Hallows' is my favorite, and that is the most wonderful way to finish the series."

De-lurking :o)

I will be sad when the last book comes out, knowing that it is the last.

How many children has she enticed to read? A few million I guess, she not only got children to read but to enjoy reading. She never writes down to children and the mythos she wove is, in my opinion, almost as good as Lord of the Rings.

I hope that she takes up the pen again sometime, but if she doesn't I wish her well in whatever she decides to do.

PS Love the bird pictures

the rumor is that she will continue to write .. can you imagine spending 17 years doing something that you love and then giving it up completely? what sort of a hole would be left behind in your life?

no, rowling will continue to write. i am very interested to know what she's cooking up for her next book (or series of books).
