Thursday Baby Blogging 110509

For this week's Baby Blogging, we have a shot of Kate helping SteelyKid with her new favorite game:

It's called "Take off my shoes, and put them back on." She can play this for hours. It would be even cuter if she could do the putting on and taking off herself, but alas, she's still kind of unclear on the solidity of objects, and doesn't really grasp that her feet can only get into the shoes from the open end. She'll get there, though.

SteelyKid officially moved out of the infant room at day care this week. She's now in the next age/ development group, termed "Waddlers" (an intermediate step between "Infants" and "Toddlers"). I very briefly considered going for the alliterative "Wednesday Waddler Blogging," but regained my senses in time. We're going to stick with "Thursday Baby Blogging" for a while yet.

Ah, the busy life of a modern homeowner: making phone calls, dealing with the mail, and doing some washing up: Meanwhile, outside the house, Emmy ponders whether it would be worth the effort to huff and puff, or if trying to blow the house down would just get her scolded. This isn't the greatest…
Friday was the last day of the school year hereabouts, so SteelyKid's day care had an end-of-year ceremony for all the preschool classes, which included her group ("Waddlers," which are between "Infants" and "Toddlers"). They gave certificates to all the kids, for a variety of different things.…
Actually, this ought to be "Wednesday Morning Baby Blogging," as that's when the picture was taken. Kate and I are going to New York City for the weekend, though, and SteelyKid is spending the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa in Scenic Whitney Point. So, you get an early picture, posted late: This…
A number of readers have asked about Minnow's daycare situation and how she adjusted to it. Fish and I spent a lot of time debating daycare options before we settled on our current center. There are 4 basic choices in childcare: a daycare center, a licensed home daycare, an unlicensed stay-at-home…

This brings back memories. A little over 20 years ago, we took our daughter to a daycare where the toddler room was called the "Stompers." Another friend's child attended a daycare where toddlers were known as "Sprouts."

Ah, I too remember the "waddler" phase. Nora actually got kicked out of the the waddler room for a while because she would only sit in her teacher's lap when she was supposed to be waddling around. Didn't last long, though -- the infant room was boring by comparison.
