Rare Pink Dolphin Pictures

This extremely rare and beautiful "pink dolphin" was spotted and photographed by Capt. Erik Rue of Calcasieu Charter Service on June 24th, 2007 during a charter fishing trip on Calcasieu Lake south of Lake Charles, LA.

An albino dolphin, with reddish eyes and glossy pink skin, the critter was smaller than its companions suggesting that it was immature. These pictures are apparently of the albino traveling with its mother.

Apparently these photos were circulating back in June but they just made their way to us, so we decided to share.

Reminds me of a plush toy my sister called 'Lucky' back in the early 50's. Cute.

Wow, that doesn't even look real. It's amazing.

And it's reminded me of my favorite show, The Venture Bros!

Hmm, can albino dolphins get sunburned? Either way, they're awesome looking!

i think sunburn would be a real concern, since they have to be surface animals. even normal whales (dolphins?) will suffer sunburn if they can't submerge much.

N-e-geneticists out there know if albinoism in dolphins are the same alleles as in humans, where it has to be dominent recessive? If so, that is evidence right there that we are all God's creatures. Same freakin DNA (ingredients), just different in recipe!

Just a quick note that it is less evidence of us being all God's creatures but more evidence of us all having a common ancestry , as in the origin of species by natural selection etc. That's just my opinion of course. On another note I wonder if the reaction of other sea creatures is that of fear since in animals red is a common coding of dangerous or venomous animals. Jelly fish have recently been shown to actively avoid any red objects they may be in the vicinity of.

awesome pics i love them so much and it's kinda cool to see a pink dolphin

they are so adorable!!!!

how and when did you people find this dolphin and just leave this dolphin out of captivity please

Three of us had the pleasure of sighting the mature "Pinky" on Tuesday, September 22, 2009. The sighting was in the same area where one of our party observed "Pinky" in 2007. We spent about 20 minutes attempting to get decent photos, but using a small digital camera was quite a challenge. Makes no difference we know what we saw.
