A few days back, Alex posted about a new, easy way to calculate one's Hirsch Number ("H-Index"), a widely used measure of one's publications' worth. Yup, I did it for me and no, I am not telling you my number....
The site that published this, The Epidemiologic Enquiry, now that I had some time to take a longer look, has a bunch of other interesting things posted about scientific/medical publishing and the methods of epidemiological research. Worth a look.
More like this
Gary Taubes has a pretty damning takedown of modern epidemiology at the Times Magazine:
The latest issue of Epidemiology features a (only somewhat tongue-in-cheek) article by Miguel A.
John Brignell has an odd response (scroll down to "Hit Parade") to some of my criticism. He doesn't link, or dare to even mention my name, so it's probably rather mystifying to his readers what he is responding to.
...is up over at Paige's Page. Lots of good stuff there-- and who knew there'd be two posts on epidemiology?
Except that it uses Google Scholar.
Google Scholar is crap for citations.
